Grrrr
My idiotic computer crashed and deleted over an hour's worth of writing! Arghhhh!!!!!
I'll have to walk around the block and start again (rather than toss the &$%ing thing out the window), but don't know if I'll finish what I was working on today now.
In the meanwhile, the discussion on taking photos in galleries continues on James Wagner's blog.

I thought Macs were too cool for crashing. Do they still have the frowny Mac?
While finding that I found a great art site: Susan Kare, creator of many of the user interface icons of modern computing.
When writing something somewhat substantial- gee, say, more than a paragraph- never ever trust a text form inside a browser window. This means a text form in web mail, a blog, a wiki, whatever. Write it in a text editor and regularly hit "Save." Then, when your piece is finished paste it in the form and submit. Now, I don't always follow this- my computer(s) are pretty stable, but even still, the browser can freeze up while the system is fine- but anytime I write a moderately long email I "Select All" and "Copy" before hitting "Send." It's a quick extra step but worth it. I learned the hard way. Make it a habit.
Appropos of nothing, I will quote Peter Blegvad from Strayed:
It's reported hopes are thwarted
Nohing of the wonderful survives.
It's resurrection is the purpose of our lives,
But who can rise?
How thick the lids lie on my eyes.
Aw, well I hope your walk around the block gets you all smiling...is it nice there. The weather here is stunning yesterday and today. Stagg and i went for a walk for hours yesterday it was 81!!!!!
Looking forward to reading your lost post,
Candy

I generally don't (I use note pad and save often), but I didn't think, when I started that it would take so long to edit, etc.
I am posting annonymously so as not to kiss ass, but I have to say that I am amazed by the consistantly interesting and engaging posts you write, Edward. I link to this blog so often that I am sure many of my readers just skip my blog and go right to yours these days. I don't know how you do it, especially considering that you have a day job. Thanks again and good luck with your computer!
sorry Edward_
it's happened to me too, and sometimes what you get when you start something laborious like that over is better for having stewed and simmered to its essences
