It's a Date!
OK, so on average I've been asked two dozen times per evening at openings and such, and although it's lovely to learn so many people want to know, it's been awful having to say, "I don't know, I don't know when we're opening...soon...soon!"
Well, "soon" is now official: Plus Ultra Gallery will open in our new ground floor location in Chelsea on March 2, 2006! As will our good friends and soon to be next-door-neighbors SchroederRomero. Mark your calendars and come help us celebrate our new spaces!

Sounds like a reason to celebrate!!! And many, many sales.
Dear Edward,
Congratulations! Be sure to read Lenny's most recent post concerning the trials and tribulations of being a gallerist - http://dcartnews.blogspot.com/archives/2006_02_01_dcartnews_archive.html#113866213623417801.
It's not an easy job and many of fully appreciate the enourmous amount of hard work it take to be succesful.
Good luck!
James
Good luck with the new space. I checked out the gallery web site and it looks very good. You have an interesting array of artists (very NYC).
Bonne chance!
Mark
Watch out Chelsea!
Edward,

thanks for the warm wishes everyone!
that list by Lenny should be sent to every person thinking about opening a gallery...definitely things to be aware of beforehand.
hope to see you all at the new space!
what is your inaugural show? is it nancy baker?
Congratulations! The web site does look great (one of the best logos anywhere). I look forward to visiting when I'm in NYC at the end of March. Good luck!
When's the next Jen Dalton show???
Wow.. Ed.. that was fast construction..
See I knew having Bambino flirt with the contractors would help!!
So do you guys have a new best friend? ;-)
Congrats!
The immediate line up is as follows:
Alois Kronschlaeger: March 2 - March 25. Opening reception: March 2, 6-8 (maybe 9...we'll see) pm
Nancy Baker: March 30-April 22. Opening reception: March 30
Joe Fig: April 27 - May 27. Opening reception: April 27
Chris Dorland: June 1 - July 1. Opening reception: June 1
Never had to use our secret Bambino weapon, Mike...learned how to pit the various contractors against each other...much more effective.
Next Jen Dalton show looks to be September, but we'll be featuring a new major piece by Jen at Pulse!
Wish I could be there. I want to say 'good luck' but, somehow, believe you don't really need it.
Congrats, best wishes and good luck.
Edward,
This is off the topic, but since I didn't have your email, I thought I'd try you here.
I've been thinking a lot about your comments about sex and death being the big and best subjects for art. I'd love it if you developed a post on another aspect of it: beauty. I think you said somewhere that sex was a metaphor for life. Isn't beauty the larger category and the one most of art history has addressed? I ask this not to quibble, but because I'm confused and have been pushed to see works about sex (and death, too) in a new way after reading your thoughts. I would have dismissed Ryan McGinley (sp?), for example, as being super-shallow. Now, I'm not so sure at all. Beauty, like painting, is perennially declared dead. I wonder if beauty is simply old-timey sex, and maybe sex is modern, and, well, maybe it's just hot beauty?
Anyway, excuse me for posting this here, but when the brain starts to whirr, the fingers start to type!
Best,
pc
