Chili Today; Hot Tamale: Miami Day 3
So, who left the camera behind today? My bad...I promise to try to do better tomorrow. After a lovely, sunny day of selling work at Aqua...(special thanks to the collectors who supported our artists' efforts) we headed out for the evening ridiculously underdressed. Arriving at the Miami Art Museum party we realized everyone else was wisely sporting parkas...or at least jackets...but we had on light clothing,...you know, the kind you can see someone's nipples through (yes, there's a lot in SoBe that makes one dwell on nipples [OK, so it wasn't as cold as the photo suggests, but still...this is Miami...come on!)...so despite the flowing booze and food in the outdoor courtyard, we headed inside for the heat, but were pleasantly surprised to find, for our second time, the stunningly beautiful exhibition by Shahzia Sikander as well as the really thoughtful exhibition, Mapping Space: Selections from the Collection.
Then we header over the Design District for the Co-Dependent opening, which is really, despite representing the taste of a dozen or so very different curators, a wonderfully cohesive and very high quality exhibition. Again and again, we were like "holy sh*t" that's good work. We also stopped into the Pierogi exhibition, which was impressively true to the mission of the gallery in a very different venue. Favorites included, of course, the work by Kate Gilmore, Dan Zeller, Johan Nobell, Jane Fine, and Dawn Clements.
Then we headed back to SoBe for a nightcap at the Delano...Fellini has nothing on that scene...
We have some early morning appointments and so are crashing early.
Post Script: Bambino got some very good news from his lawyer today...after years of negotiations, he's getting his green card next week!!!! Finally! We're gonna have a big green party when it arrives. That was truly the best development of the day.
